About Troy

Troy studied photography in college and along the way also became a professional rock climber. Combining these pursuits he has published images in climbing books, magazine articles and advertisements. He has authored several climbing guidebooks and many magazine articles. As a bit of trivia Troy has appeared in print ads and on TV spots, as well as guided celebrities on climbing excursions. He is a lifelong athlete, an avid cyclist, both road and mtn bikes and grew up surfing. On the business side Troy is what you might call a serial entrepreneur having been a principle in several start ups. He has consulted in branding, marketing and strategic operations for small business and was a featured speaker on youth marketing and emerging market trends at both the Outdoor Retailer and Action Sports Retail trade shows. For the past several years he has served as a founder and the executive director of the non-profit climbing advocacy group Friends of Williamson Rock, an affiliate of the non-profit group The Access Fund. In this capacity he met regularly with congressmen and government agencies such as the US Forest Service, US Geological Survey and US Fish & Wildlife. As a result of this volunteer service to the climbing community Troy was a recipient of the "Sharp End" award from the Access Fund. He also manages personal real estate investments.
